During the hot summer and spring months, it's easy to step outside and work out in just about nothing (as long as it's appropriate). However, as the temperatures start to cool down, layers are a must when you are working out outside. But what kinds of workout clothes should you add to your winter wardrobe? Read on to learn more.

Long Sleeve Performance Tee

If you are the type of person that likes to wear minimal layers, then invest in a long sleeve performance tee. Performance tees are designed with moisture-wicking material which makes it so that you are able to breathe while you're wearing your shirt and working out but it keeps you warm as well. Plus, if you wear a long sleeve performance tee, you don't have to worry about layering as much because it should keep you fairly warm from start to finish.

Leggings

Whether you're a man or a woman, investing in leggings or running tights is a must. For men, they usually layer running tights under shorts but women usually wear them on their own. Leggings are great for working out outside because they hug your legs for compression while keeping them warm enough from the weather outside. Additionally, they come in a variety of different materials depending on what workouts you like to do. For instance, if you are more of a long-distance runner, then you may choose a different fabric than if you are the type of person who does walking.

Vest

In addition to investing in a long sleeve performance tee, you can also get a vest that's designed for working out. Typically, workout vests contain either polyester or down filling which add enough warmth to the vest so you don't have to wear a coat. Additionally, the great thing about wearing a vest when you are working out outside is that you can just take it off when you warm up and it isn't a lot to carry with you for the remainder of your workout.

Preparing for cold weather outside-- especially when it involves working out-- can seem a little bit daunting. However, nothing will make working out outside in the cold weather more enjoyable than investing in the right wardrobe.
