If you are looking to order T-shirts for your employees to wear -- or to give or sell to your customers -- then you might be thinking about using a custom ordering company to have them custom-made. There are a lot of these companies out there, but not all of them will provide you with the same experience or the same quality of T-shirt. These are the three main things that you should look for when ordering your shirts.

1. Made in the United States

As a local business owner, you probably understand the importance of supporting local businesses rather than businesses that operate overseas. Even though you might not choose to buy your T-shirts from a company in your city or town -- or even though you might not have these options -- you should at least look for a company that offers USA made custom shirts. Then, you can feel good about not sending your business overseas, and you might find that the quality is a lot better, too.

2. Multiple Customization Options

Even though all companies that offer customized T-shirts obviously allow you to customize them at least a little bit, some companies offer more customization options than others. Pick a company that lets you go wild with the placement, size and color of your logo and words. Some companies put a lot of restrictions on the customizations that can be made, and it can cause your T-shirts to come out with a rather "cookie cutter" look rather than the custom look that you were hoping for.

3. High Quality Materials

Even though affordable T-shirts might seem appealing, it's best to look for shirts that are well-made from high-quality materials. They will last longer, wash better and be more comfortable and are generally well worth the minor increase in price. Many custom companies offer various choices, but one popular choice is cotton. T-shirts that are made from 100 percent cotton are generally comfortable and well-made, A good blend of cotton and polyester is also a good choice, but be weary about polyester-only T-shirts, since they often aren't breathable and can be hot and stuffy, especially if your employees are working in them.

If you're ordering T-shirts for your place of business, it's important to look for a few things. If you insist on these three things while you're shopping, however, you should be more than happy with the T-shirts that you end up with.
